Runners qualify for State Meet

Under the direction of Coach Marta Morgan, the Canton Eaglette cross country team qualified for the State Cross Country Meet. Team members include: Darby Pruitt, Morgan Palmer, Juliana Bratcher, Taylor Marshall, Claire Boyd, Kristin Neystel and, not pictured, Karen James.

The Canton cross country program will be well represented at the State Meet in Round Rock Nov. 12, qualifying the entire varsity girls team and an additional runner in the boys classification at the Regional Meet held Oct. 29 in Grand Prairie.

The varsity girls team finished third overall at the Regional Cross Country Meet led by individual runner-up Karen James in a time of 11:39. Teammate Juliana Bratcher was close behind, finishing in fifth with a time of 11:56, followed by Taylor Marshall in 12:47, Darby Pruitt in 12:47, Claire Boyd in 13:15, Kristin Neystel in 13:56, and Morgan Palmer in 14:21. 

This trip to Round Rock will be the first for the Lady Running Eagles since 2000.

Cordale Harrison will also be competing at the State Meet after finishing 22nd overall with a time of 17:29 in the varsity boys division.
