J. L. Cleveland, 77 a retired Presbyterian minister, passed away Christmas Day in a Jacksonville hospital. Funeral services were held at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton Tuesday afternoon with Dr. Hoyt Bowles and Rev. Edwin Ray conducting the services. At the time of his death he was serving as pastor of the Point Presbyterian Church and the Elm Grove Presbyterian Church.
He had been in the ministry 54 years. During the years he served the following churches Lagow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Holly Technical Presbyterian Church  at Fort Worth and for Celina Plan, Forney, Lewisville, Prosper, Mabank, Elm Grove, Point and Miller Grove.
He was marriage to Mildred Sanders on Feb. 10, 1901, and his wife survives with a daughter. Interment was a quiet row Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tommie Callahan, passed away at her home Dec. 26, were held at the First Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Joe Fort and Rev. Don Brown conducting the last rites. Mrs. Callahan was born Nov.15, 1894, in Van Zandt County and was married to R. C. Callahan who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Canton Methodist church. Interment was in High Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
