This Week in Canton History
Jan. 12 1961- The Campus Chatter, Canton High School: Christmas wishes come true for many – when the students and faculty came back to school after Christmas holidays most of them were displaying gifts received for Christmas. There were several students with new watches. They were Sue Flowers, Sherry Kearby and Larry Everett. Linda Stone and Irma Jean Edwards were proudly wearing engagement rings. Almost everyone got clothes for Christmas. A few of these are Ronnie Chitty, Billy Mack Whitton, Lottie Alvey, Mr. Chapman, Carolyn Callahan, Mary Nixon, Annette Lawley, Donna Morris, and Larry Stegall. Yvonne Shatley and Linda Cotton both got new coats for Christmas. Mr. Barber got a tie rack and a fish cleaner. Donna Murphy received a pearl necklace and earring set. Joyce Crabtree and Mrs. Slaughter both moved into new houses. Mrs. Owens got a Ho Fi set and Mary Page got a record player. Janie Vick and Vicki Simpson got a transistor radio. Barbara Rhame got clothes and a jewelry box. Brenda Norman got a Mouton. Mrs. Scott got a stereo record player. Ben Hanley Bermett received money for Christmas. Billy Jack Peace got a pair of boots. Everyone seemed to be very happy over the results of their Christmas holidays.
The student body and faculty of CHS extend its sympathy to Danny Walters on the death of his grandmother, Mrs. Tommie Callahan and to Betty Sue and Dewayne Dearing on the death of their grandfather Mr. Henry Sides.
