January 19, 1961-Canton His School will be seeking its fourth conference win of the season when Terrell invades Canton Friday night, Jan. 20. The Eagles have taken all the other district teams, Van, Grand Saline, and Kaufman in previous contest. Grand Saline fell to the Eagles, 72-53: Van was defeated 58-56 and Kaufman was downed 67-52. Canton shellacked Kaufman – the Kaufman Lions were the victims of the Eagles Tuesday night before the score of 67-52 and a contest played at Kaufman. Micky White led the local scoring with a good night and 29 points, while Larry Davis also enjoyed a good night, scoring 17 points. Larry Etheridge scored 10, Ronnie temple tallied for, and John Warren scored five. Charles Cox led the lines scoring with 26 points. The Canton B team defeated the Lions B team 56-43 in a preliminary game. Denny Levin led the scoring for the locals was 17 points following closely by Jimmy Eubank with 15 points Mitchell led the home team with 11 points. Eagles edged Vandals- Canton Eagles edged out a strong Van quint last Friday night at the local gym, 56-54, with Mickey White tallying 25 points to lead all scoring. John Warren tallied 12 points for the Eagles while Larry Davis and Larry Etheridge got 8 points each Phillips led the visitors with 21 points Van’s B team defeated the Eagles B team in a preliminary game, 40-19.
