The Canton Eaglettes kept themselves near the top of the District 13-4A standings this past week, winning games over chief district rival Brownsboro and Wills Point to improve to 3-1 overall.
Canton traveled to Brownsboro Jan. 17, getting big performances in the first and fourth quarters to secure a convincing 54-42 win. On a night when three Canton players finished with double figure totals in scoring, Canton built an 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The margin remained at seven entering the half, with Canton and Brownsboro dueling to a 16-16 second quarter tie.
Brownsboro managed to shave a point off Canton’s lead in the third quarter before a strong Eaglette finish to the fourth quarter put the game out of reach for good.
