The Canton Police Department

—Responded to a motor vehicle crash, failure to stop and render aid on Shady Lane. According to reports, a driver was leaving his driveway of a residence and backed up and hit another parked car. The driver then left the scene;

—Responded to multiple calls at Jalapeno Tree regarding attempted burglaries of vehicles and damage to vehicles. According to reports, a victim’s purse was stolen and a vehicle had windows with signs of a window punch being used to try to gain access to the vehicle.

—Responded to a criminal mischief call regarding an attempted vehicle burglary at the Canton Village Apartments.

—At Canton Village Apartments, officers responded to a criminal mischief call regarding reports of multiple vehicles being keyed;

 Feb. 12

—Responded to a criminal mischief call on Lazy U drive. A window had been busted out of a vehicle. The vehicle also sustained damage to its sides.

—Responded to a harassment call at West View Apartments;

—Officers were dispatched to Canton Healthcare Center for medication theft;

—Investigated a theft at Quality Inn Hotel;

—Investigated a disturbance in the Canton Auction House parking lot;

—Responded to a public intoxication call concerning a driver driving erratically. The driver was arrested on site;

—Initiated a traffic stop because of a lack of a license plate light. The suspect was wanted out of Rains County and was booked into the VZC Jail;

—Initiated a traffic stop because of a failure to use a turn signal. The driver was wanted by Pardons and Parole wans was taken into custody;

—Responded to a theft at Brookshires. The suspect hid items underneath his clothing. The suspect was wanted out of the Canton Municipal Court and was booked into custody;

—Officers responded to calls of a reckless driver on southbound State Highway 10. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated;

—Responded to a call at Jalapeno Tree for criminal mischief regarding ice cream being smeared on wheels and scratches on the body of a vehicle;

—Responded to a call of theft at Walmart. The suspects were trying to steal $26 of makeup;

—Responded to a call at the Dairy Palace. The suspect was placed into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated.

—Responded to a call of theft at a Sprint store. Suspects cut the cord holding the display phone;

—Responded to call of a hit and run on Lewis Ground.
