Eagles begin 2017 season with tournament play

The Canton Eagle baseball program jumpstarted its latest season last week, participating in the first of three scheduled tournaments at Ferris Feb. 23-25.

The Eagles finished their first weekend of the season with a 4-1 record overall, including wins over Benbrook, Dallas Christian, Maypearl and Ferris.

Canton pushed its way into the win column against both Benbrook and Dallas Christian Feb. 23, recording 5-1 wins in each contest.

The second day of the tournament proved to be equally kind to the Eagles as Canton recorded a 10-8 win over Maypearl and an 18-0 drubbing of Ferris to improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season.
