VZC Sheriff’s Office to begin program
Van Zandt County Sheriff Dale Corbett is striving to generate a more COACTIVE relationship between The Van Zandt Sheriff’s Office and the citizens it serves. Part of his strategy is to actively seek members of the community to join the Citizens Sheriff Academy Program.
The program was designed to allow members of the community an opportunity to develop a better understanding of their sheriff’s office through education. Also, it allows members of the sheriff’s office to establish a better rapport and maintain trust and respect from the citizens that it protects and serves.
During the 40 hours of training, members will have an opportunity to meet the Sheriff and many other members of his office. Participants will receive instruction regarding the following subject areas: department organization, use of force, criminal law and investigation, shooting decisions, specialty units, patrol and traffic functions, a tour of the Van Zandt County Criminal Justice Facility, firearms training, and much more.
