County implements job training program
Dan Maucieri, the human resource director for Van Zandt County, looks over information from Workforce Solutions of East Texas.
A new training program between Van Zandt County and Workforce Solutions of East Texas is underway to help with younger and less experienced individuals to get involved in the workforce.
Dan Maucieri, who was recently appointed to serve as the county’s new human resources director, has been working with Debra Holcomb of Workforce Solutions to begin the program.
Maucieri presented the program in a recent meeting of the county commissioners and received approval.
“I have been working with Debra Holcomb at Workforce Solutions on this program,” said Maucieri. “Workforce Solutions has many different sites and a lot of mobile type assistance. Their mission statement points out the fact that they promote and support a workforce system that creates value and offers individuals, employers and communities the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity. What they are doing is trying to help younger and less experienced people gain employment. They look for places like Van Zandt County to provide opportunities for these folks to gain work experience.”
Along those lines, Maucieri said that Workforce Solutions has asked the county to participate in the program.
