Velma Williams

Velma Lee Williams, 78, of Canton passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, in Tyler. She was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Dallas to William Henry and Martha Lee Rogers Brooks.

  1. was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. She started dating Chester while they were in high school, which blossomed into a relationship that lasted over 60 years. They were married in July 1963. She enjoyed keeping children while their parents worked, and shopping, especially for purses and shoes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Brooks.

She is survived by her husband, Chester Williams of Canton; four children, Tammy and Kenneth Acker of Lindale, Janet and Chris Martin of Aledo, Cathy Williams of Royse City and Michael Williams of Royse City; six grandchildren: Brett Williams, Christopher Martin, Arron Martin, Chelesy Williams, Victoria Williams and Elizabeth Williams; and two great-grandchildren: Karli and Lena.
