Services for B.W. Ward, 86, of Canton, were held March 29, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Canton with Pastor Mike Roberson officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.

Interment was in Haven of Memories.

He passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Canton.

 He was born Sept. 24, 1930 in the China Grove Community to Walter E. and Ora Belle Morris Ward.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton for over 50 years and a 50 year member of the Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite.

After serving in the Navy, he was a truck driver for Safeway for 11 years. He served for 10 years as the Van Zandt County Sheriff and then another 10 years as a court bailiff for Judge Tommy Wallace. He owned the Piggly Wiggly in Canton for several years and was on the Board of Directors for the First National Bank of Canton for a number of years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed basketball and football.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Ward ;and brother, Charles Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Ward; three grandchildren: Kim Ward, Daniel and Valerie Ward, and Dana and Matthew Branton; eight great-grandchildren: Justin, Alexandria, Cody, Garrett, Gavin, Lillianna, Gabbriella and Kylie; and four sisters: Izoria Williams, Lavone Hale, Shirley and Jack Ward and Merle and Howard Dunn.

Pallbearers were Randy Williams, Tim Williams, Doug Williams, Phil Albright, Bret Dunn and Mark Ramsey.
