The Canton Eaglettes improved to 3-0 overall in District 13-4A play last week, getting multi-hit efforts from five different players in a 13-3 win over Emory Rains March 21.
Canton and Rains met for the first time this season
Rains got an early jump on the Eaglettes, scoring two runs in the home half of the first for a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Cat lead would be short-lived, however, with Canton scoring four runs in the top of the second to seize control of the contest.
The Eaglettes loaded the bases with a little help from Rains courtesy of a single by Baylee Sanders and two-hit-by-pitches.
Mattie Tullos proceeded cut the Eaglette deficit in half with an RBI single, and Reagan Busby delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the score at 2-2. With two outs in the inning, Gracie Chavez came through with a 2 RBI single to left for the eventual game-winning runs.
The Eaglettes proceeded to add a run in the top of the third on a Kylie Floyd RBI single, and three more in the top of the fourth behind another RBI hits by Gracie Chavez, Haylee Miles and Grayson Reid.
