Golf team hosts Canton Invitational event

The Canton varsity girls team of Emily Watson, Kenley Nixon, Julie Bass and Mila Harrison combined to finish second overall at this year’s CHS Golf Invitational.
The Canton golf team hosted its signature event, the annual CHS Invitational, March 20-21 at Van Zandt Country Club. Canton finished second in both the varsity boys and varsity girls divisions,
The varsity boys portion of the tournament, played March 20, included 22 participating schools from the region. Texarkana Pleasant Grove led the field with a team total 298, followed by Canton in second with a season-low score of 305 and Carthage in third with a 317.
Canton was led by senior Matthew Allen, who carded a season and career-low 72 to finish in second place as an individual medalist overall. Allen finished the back 9 holes of play with an incredible 4-under par.
Patrick Malouf finished with a 77 followed closely by Tristan Nelson and Logan Willeford, who each carding a 78 and Will Huddle finishing with an 87.
