District approves video monitoring system

Second graders Cooper Dolive and Lucas Gebert led the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, respectively, at the March school board meeting.

Canton ISD School Board trustees approved a $147,892 contract for a video monitoring system that will be used on all four campuses of the district.

During the April 17 meeting, district trustees reviewed four proposals for a video monitoring system for all four campuses.

The four companies were Simplex Grinnell, KLC Video Security, American Integrated Security Group, Inc., and Resilient, with KLC submitting the lowest bid. Simplex Grinnell was the high bid at $402,975.

“After inspecting each proposal and checking references, the district recommends KLC Video Security to provide a video monitoring system for the district,” said Superintendent Jay Tullos.

Tullos also remarked that the monitoring system is “important for all campuses to have,” and that the video security system will monitor all “halls, exterior doors and parking lots.”
