Get the best start possible
The nine months of pregnancy are an exciting time of anticipation and preparation in a family’s life. Between gender reveals and baby showers, your baby is constantly growing and developing. The quality of the environment in which your unborn baby grows is key to good health and less disease later in life. It is important to eat foods that provide all of the nutrients needed for both mom and baby. At WIC, we can help ensure that your baby has the healthiest possible start to life.
WIC stands for Women, Infants, and Children. We give you the services, support, and inspiration you need to eat right, have a healthy pregnancy, breastfeed successfully, and raise amazing kids. WIC is your family’s partner in health, every step of the way. We help pregnant women, breastfeeding women, women who had a baby within the last six months, infants, and children under the age of five be healthy. WIC wants you to eat well during your pregnancy. Oftentimes, expectant mothers who do not receive proper nutrition will give birth to a baby with low birth weight. This is concerning because low birth weight can lead to complications in the early newborn stage, and is associated with increased risk for chronic conditions later in life. Some of these chronic conditions include Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and coronary heart disease.
