Eaglettes upend Liberty-Eylau in bi-district

The Canton Eaglettes punched their ticket to the Area round of the playoffs late last week, rallying to win games two and three in a best-of-three series from a scrappy Liberty-Eylau team in bi-district action.

Play between Canton and Liberty-Eylau began April 27 at Longview’s Lady Lobo Field with the Lady Leopards holding off the Eaglettes for a 5-4 win.

The Lady Leopards seemingly put themselves in control early, taking a 4-0 lead on Canton after just three innings of play. Canton came roaring back with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, tying the score courtesy of a three-run home run by Kylie Floyd and an RBI single by Gracie Chavez.

The Lady Leopards would turn back Canton's effort in the bottom of the sixth, plating the eventual winning run to take a 1-0 series lead on the Eaglettes.
