The 2017 Texas 4-H State Roundup, the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas 4-H honored leaders and volunteers during the Salute to Excellence Banquet. Those honored were nominated from across the state for their outstanding contribution to Texas 4-H. They live by the 4-H motto “Make the best better” a reality.
Carolyn Albert Davis was nominated for the Salute to Excellence award by Van Zandt County Extension Agent Melisa Rhodes in recognition of her dedication, commitment and impact in the lives of 4-H youths and their families.
Davis offered to share the skills she learned as a young 4-H member growing up in Dallas County. She competed in events earning many honors in leadership and clothing construction. In January 2016 she began her leadership role here in Van Zandt County with six young ladies who were interested in fashion and design. The original six members of her Special Interest (SPIN) club have now grown into Kids N’ Clovers Community Club of Canton with 42 members.
