Mr. Green passed away Sept. 8, 2017, in Tyler of natural causes. He was born on Jan. 11, 1944, in Wills Point to Angus Leon Green and Birdie Smithart Green.
He was a minister, a talented carpenter and cook, a man who loved the outdoors and life in the country. He was also a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was always very active until he became ill with Parkinson’s disease.
Having been orphaned at a young age and raised in less than ideal circumstances, he was fiercely protective of his own family.
He faithfully devoted himself to his wife, Linda, throughout their marriage and loved his children. He took on responsibilities that others abdicated for the sake of stability in his grandchildren’s lives.
He was a Christian who sought to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by devoting his life to ministry and sharing the gospel with others both in the U.S and Mexico with his devoted wife always by his side.
While a man of humble means, he gave generously of himself and his resources to family and friends in need.
The Green’s had many precious lifelong friendships and were known for their hospitality. He was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church.
He was a man’s man, a natural leader, a risk-taker, tenacious, and a person who lived his life based on values and convictions.
He would put 110-percent into any endeavor in which he committed himself and he strove for excellence in all that he did.
He collected sayings and loved sharing stories. His seriousness and devotion to weighty matters was tempered by a spirited sense of humor. He loved teasing and joking with others, his unfettered laughter filling any room.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Linda. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Ortez and Lisa Cole; son, Lance Green; granddaughter, Ashley Ortez; grandsons, Sterling and Yessica Rotes, Dustin and Shelby Burleson, and Dakota and Morgan Burleson; granddaughters, Angela Cole and Genesis Green; sisters, Sondra Pelzel and Nelda Mackey
