Bloodhounds led officers of several counties to 2 escapees from the Van Zandt County jail Tuesday afternoon less than 24 hours after the pair had strong-armed their way from their cell in Canton.

The fugitives were captured by officers just outside Terrell, home of both of the prisoners. The capture at 1 p m. Tuesday came after the men had escaped from the Canton jail about 4 p m. Monday, eluded roadblocks, and night searching parties, fled in a stolen pickup, and kept the dogs and officers tracking all Tuesday morning. Sheriff J. W. Burnett of Van Zandt County and Sheriff J. W. Brownlow of Henderson County along with several other officers were right behind the dogs when they caught the men close to a dirt road just after the 2 had jumped over a fence and out of the pasture. J. G. Morris, the jailer whom the 2 overpowered when they ran from the Canton jail, said he and deputy Marlin Ammons arrived on the scene shortly after the men were captured and he and Ammons returned the men to jail.
