Services for Naomi Langley Marksbury, 80, were held Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Jackson’s Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler with the Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating.
Interment followed at Haven of Memories in Canton.
was born Oct. 2, 1937, and entered life eternal Oct. 2, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Hers was a life well lived. She was born at home, the first child of Sam Mason and Myrtle Stanley Langley in Van Zandt County near Canton. Her father was a farmer and it was in that family farm setting that Mrs. Marksbury’s life values and aspirations were formed. She graduated from Canton High School in 1956 and briefly attended Tyler Junior College before marrying and having a family.
She was a Christian. She was baptized into the Baptist faith as a young girl and attended First Baptist Church growing up.
While raising her two sons and working at Texas Rehabilitation Commission, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree at East Texas State. She later returned to college and earned a master’s degree in sociology and counseling. She also received several certifications through continuing education in counseling.
married the love of her life, Donald Marksbury in 1981 and they established and operated County Rehab facility in Tyler for many years. After retiring, they enjoyed many wonderful trips to different parts of the world, including England, Egypt, Syria and Jordan, Norway, Russia, an Alaskan cruise and Hawaii with family members. She also traveled to Peru where she was invited to judge a flower show. The Marksburys were avid skiers and traveled to many places where they enjoyed skiing and sight-seeing.
retirement, she developed a passion for gardening and became a Master Gardner and a Master National Flower Show judge. She was a former member and past president of Azalea Garden Club, present member and former president of Green Acres Garden Club and a member of District III Flower Show Judges Council. She especially loved growing orchids and was a member of Central East Texas Orchid Society. She was also a member of AAUW and several other business organizations. As a young woman, she followed her parent’s footsteps and became a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Canton Chapter 667.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Samuel Harry and Larry Bob Langley; her only grandchild, Teddy Maurice Robinson Jr.; her loving husband, Donald Lin Marksbury; and her son, Thomas Mason Robinson.
She is survived by her beloved son, Teddy Maurice Robinson of Canton; nephews, Samuel Harry Langley Jr. of Carrollton, Larry Bryan Langley and wife, Michelle of Lantana; niece, Susan Diane Langley Pierce of Frisco and husband, Kyle; great-nieces and nephews, Samuel Langley III of Canton, Mason, Merek and Maryn Pierce of Frisco, Emily and Evan Langley of Lantana; and sister-in-law, Brenda Boyd-Langley of Garland; as well as a host of wonderful, loving and devoted friends; and her sweet pets, Buttons and Franky.
