Memorial services for Nelba Walters, 88, of Canton, were held Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Dr. Mark Moore and Bro. Jan Westmoreland officiating. Interment followed in Haven of Memories. Ms. Walters passed away at her home Sunday, Oct. 08, 2017.
She was born July 24, 1929, in Canton to Monroe Carroll and Ophelia Denson Walters.
She graduated from Canton High School in 1945. She attended North Texas College for two years, then moved to Dallas where she started her 42-year working career, of which 25 of those years were with Charles Ramsey Construction Consulting Company as a general office manager. In 1983, she and her sister built their retirement home in Canton. She commuted to Dallas until she retired in 1987. She was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church where she volunteered her accounting services for many years. She is well known as the “Pie Lady.” She was very involved in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Association as the secretary-treasurer for many years. She was instrumental in getting the historical marker for the cemetery.
Ms. Walters is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carroll Jr. Walters in 2001.
Survivors include her sister, Paralee “Biddy” Walters; first cousins, Martha and Charles Lide, James and Linda Sides, Kellis Walters all of Canton, Goode Rogers of Tyler, and Jan and Nita Westmoreland of Fort Worth.
