Jackie Platter
1949-2017
After a courageous battle with breast cancer, Jackie Platter went to be with her Lord and Savior Oct. 15, 2017, in Tyler at age 68.
Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God were what gave her the strength to fight her battle with cancer for many months.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017. A visitation for the family will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
She was born Aug. 9, 1949, in Borger to Jack and Pauline Garrard. She grew up in Quanah where she graduated from high school in 1967.
She moved to Canton in 1970 and lived there until 2015. She moved to Lindale after her diagnosis to be closer to her daughters.
Her greatest joys in life were her daughters, Tiffany and Misty, and her three grandsons, Collin, Jackson and Brayden.
It brought her such joy to attend any event or activity that her “boys” were involved in and she was always so proud of them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Pauline Dial and brother-in-law, Robert Walker.
She is survived by her daughters, Tiffany Graham, and Misty Hill and husband, Justin, all of Lindale; grandsons, Collin and Brayden Hill, and Jackson Choate; sisters, Linda and James Smith of Quanah, Paula Walker of Greenwood, Diane and Johnny Sursa of Stinnett, and Barbara Marshall of Canton; lifelong friend, Mary Frances Thorn of Edgewood; brother, Sonny Garrard and wife, Sandy of Quanah; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Hospice of East Texas.
