A celebration of life for Terry Joe Lawley, 60, was held Thursday at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
He passed away Dec. 2, 2017 in McKinney. He was born Aug. 4, 1957 in Ft. Sill, Okla. to Haskell T. and Juanda Jo McElhaney Lawley.
He grew up an Army brat and later served in both the US Army and the US Coast Guard. In 1992 he met his wife, Judy, in Tulsa, Okla. and they have been together ever since.
He enjoyed learning about his Native American heritage and had a lifelong interest in technology and computers. He was very much a "people person" and enjoyed being involved in the community in which he lived. He was never afraid to voice what he believed in.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell T. and Juanda Jo Lawlen; and two brothers, Jackie Wayne and Russell Eugene Lawley.
He is survived by his wife, Judy W. Lawley; step son, Griswald W. Brooks; brother, Scott Lawley and his wife, Nancy; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
