Wanda Lou Hays 1931-2018
Wanda Lou Hays passed away on Jan. 2, 2018 in Tyler at the age of 86. She was born on June 7, 1931 in Brownsboro to Wesley Robert Cox and Edith Thompson Cox.
She was raised in the area where she met and married Charles Virble Hays on Dec. 26, 1946. They moved to the Dallas area where they raised their four boys and she retired from a career with Hartford Insurance Company.
In the early 1980s, they returned to live in Ben Wheeler where they were active members of First Baptist Church, Ben Wheeler.
She is survived by her son, Jerry and Sue Hays; son, Steve and Kathleen Hays; son, Mark and Leslie Hays.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Tiffany Wise, Jeremy Hays, Natasha Hays, Brian Hays, Jared Hays, Chad Hays, Jeff Hays, Lance Hays, Jaime McCullers, Tanner Hays, and Tenesha Braswell, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, eight brothers and sisters, and her first-born son, Charles Michael Hays.
Services were held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. Jerry Hays officiated and the grandchildren served as pallbearers.
