Dennis Gandy 1949-2018

Services for Dennis Clayton Gandy were held Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Pastor David Martin and Pastor Scott Miles officiating. A graveside service followed at Fairway Garden of Memories Cemetery in Van. He was born Aug. 14, 1949 in Tyler. He had been a resident of Ben Wheeler all of his life. He graduated from Van High School in 1967 and received his bachelor's degree from University of Texas at Austin in 1970. He started Gandy's Nursery in 1972, where he has worked alongside his family for many years. He belonged to Texas Nursery and Landscape Association and Northeast Texas Nursery Growers Association. He  was also a member of Pine Brook Baptist Church.

He passed away at the age of 68 on Jan. 25, 2018. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Clayton Gandy II;  father, Burnice Ray Gandy; mother, Reba Delphia Peterson Roberts; and two grandsons, Dawson Chad Gandy and Colton Jake Gandy.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Gandy of Ben Wheeler; two sons, Neil Gandy of Keller and Nick Gandy and fiancé, Whitney Rose of Lindale; brother and sister-in-law, Reno and Marilyn Gandy of Van; seven grandchildren, Dennis Neil Gandy, Heather Victoria Gandy, Domonick Clayton "Clay" Gandy II, Kristyn Nicole Gandy, Dalton Cash Gandy, Chloe Marie Gandy and Walker Boone Gandy; with one grandchild and one great-grandchild on the way.

Pallbearers were Dennis Gandy, Clay Gandy, Cash Gandy, Scott Gandy, Ritchie Gandy, and Ronnie Batie, Jr.  Billy Gandy, Jacob Hill, Fred Bershers, Jimmy Barnes, Bob Cartwright, and Doug Arnold served as honorary pallbearers.
