Eugene Ryer 1933-2018

Services for Eugene "Pat" Patrick Ryer, 84, of Canton were held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. He passed away Jan. 26, 2018 in Kaufman.

He was born Feb. 15, 1933 in Dallas to Richard Robert Ryer and Augustus Sylvania Kolaczkowski.

He grew up in the Riley Community and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.

He joined the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he married Peggy LaNelle Hoops on March 23, 1956.

The couple lived in Dallas for 10 years before moving to Canton in 1966. He was a farmer who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ryer; son, Timothy Craig and Ronda Ryer; son, Kevin Patrick and Betty Ryer; grandchildren, Kristi McDaniel, Patrick Ryer, Shelly Ryer, Rebecca Ryer, and David Cunningham; great grandchildren, Conor McDaniel, Kinley McDaniel, Landry Cunningham, and Maddie Cunningham; brother, Edward and Betty Ryler; and sister, Shirley and James Wells.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Augustus Ryer; son, Bradley Ryer; son, Randall Ryer; along with five brothers and sisters. Interment was at Haven of Memories in Canton.
