Geneva Scott 1923-2018

 

 

Our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Geneva Ruth Scott, of Rockwall, passed away Jan. 21, 2018, at the age of 94. She was born to the late Lloyd P. Hall and Viola M. (Fuller) Hall, Feb. 25, 1923, in Canton. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, in 1940, and married the late Truman B. Waddle in 1941. He passed away April 13, 1973. In 1977, she married the late Horace Scott and moved to Canton. Horace passed away in 1992. In 2005, she moved to Rowlett, then to Rockwall in 2008, where she resided until January. She worked in an inspection office at North American Defense Plant in Grand Prairie, during World War II while her husband served in the USAF in the South Pacific, and later as a fidelity bondswoman in an insurance company. Later in life, she became a gifted artist, painting on canvas and china. She volunteered for one year for Mercy Ships Mission Organization in Lindale and eight years at Baylor Scott & White in Rowlett. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockwall.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Johnice Waddle of Houston and David and Melinde Waddle of Carrollton. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Brian Waddle of Houston, Lance Waddle of Santiago, Chile, and Claudette Waddle of Austin; and two great grandchildren, Poppi and Sophia Waddle of Santiago, Chile. She was preceded in death by her parents; late husbands, Truman B. Waddle and Horace Scott; two brothers, Ray Hall and Billy Hall; and sister, Lois Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel with Dean Waddle officiating. Private interment will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 S RL Thornton Fwy, Dallas, 75232. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 12 noon.
