Marine Corps League forming

 If you are a Marine, Navy Chaplain or FMF Corpsman, who served a

minimum of 90 days, and were honorably discharged, the Marine Corps

League wants you.

 Retired First Sergeant Bill Sekel said efforts are underway to start a

Van Zandt-Henderson County Detachment. “The Marine Corps League is the

only Congressionally charted U.S. Marine Corps related veterans

organization in the United States.” The MCL was founded in 1923 by

legendary General John A. Lejeune and received its Congressional charter in

1937.

 “Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and

fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the

interests of the U.S. Marine Corps, banding together those who are now

serving in the Marine Corps and those who have been Honorably discharged

from service.  We promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy,

voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines, Chaplains and

FMF Corpsmen and to their families. We also perpetuate the history of the

United States Marine Corps and observe the anniversaries of historical

occasions of particular interest to Marines,” said Bell.
