Dinner under the stars held Downtown Canton site for events

Saturday, March 24, was a fun night in downtown Canton. The first event of the year in downtown Canton was Dinner on Main Street, a Taste of Downtown Canton.   The setting could not have been more perfect thanks to the spectacular weather, a beautifully decorated table that was set on Buffalo Street in front of the old Plaza Theater, great live music by Jim and Trisha McAdams and yes, beer and wine was served.  Five restaurants participated in this special event —  3D’s Pizza, Alex’s Greek Café, Robles Mexican Restaurant, Val’s Italian Restaurant and Buttermilk’s. They brought out the very best of their menus and served with gracious hospitality. The Canton Dish Barn donated the plates for the dinner and Billie Rose Floral provided beautiful centerpieces which they donated to the guests. This was truly a taste of what our downtown has to offer and a wonderful way to spend time with some great friends.

Farmer’s Market

The next event taking place in Downtown Canton will be held Saturday, April 21.  This will be the much anticipated Farmer’s Market. The market will be a producers only

market, which means that the market will be a true Farmer’s Market for Van Zandt County. The market will have local beef, chicken, eggs, honey, baked goods and, of course, produce. There will be cooking demonstrations, information on healthy eating, fun for the kids and much more at the opening day on April 21. The Market will be held each Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and will be located on Buffalo Street between Highway 64 and Groves St.  Please come out and support local farmers and let’s get back to healthy eating.

Downtown Revitalization

Canton Main Street is undergoing a revitalization and the Canton Main Street oard would like to invite the community to participate in an online survey. This survey will help with your ideas for the revitalization of Canton Downtown better known as the Downtown Action Plan. Please use this link to take this survey @ https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TPH6J6H, check out their website or go by the Main Street office in the old Plaza Theater for a copy of the survey.  There will be a Kick-Off Open House at the opening of the Farmers Market and you will have a chance to change to meet the team helping with the Downtown Action Plan, get an update on progress so far, and contribute your input for the revitalization.

Movie Time

A Free Outdoor Movie Series starts May 4.  There will be special themes that will complement each movie and will appeal to all age groups. Make sure to check out www.cantonmainstreet.org for all the movie listing and other great events.

Imagine the Possibilities Tour & Pocket Park opening

June 23 will be a big day for downtown with a special celebration that will show everyone all the possibilities downtown has to offer.  There will be pop-up vendors, music, food and the opening of the Pocket Park located at the intersection of Highway 64 and Buffalo Street. The park will be a beautiful addition to the downtown and give the citizens a great place to enjoy special events, see great entertainment and enjoy the ambiance of downtown.
