Eaglettes bow out in bi-district round

Eaglette outfielder Baylee Sanders started in game one of Canton's best-of-three series against the Lady Leopards, going 1/2 with a single.
The Canton Eaglettes traveled to Longview last week, taking on District 14-4A runner-up Liberty-Eylau in the bi-district round of the playoffs April 26-27. Despite a game effort, the Lady Leopards won each of the first two games in the best-of-three series to end Canton’s season with a 14-10-1 record overall.
The Lady Leopard offense was red-hot in game one of the series, pounding out 13 hits in an 11-1, five-inning victory over the Eaglettes.
Liberty-Eylau never trailed in the contest, scoring a run in the first, six in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth to secure the win.
Canton plated just one run in the contest despite the fact that eight out of nine Eaglette hitters finished with at least one hit in the contest.
Carly Autry led Canton at the plate going 2/3, with Brooke Arnold going 1/3 with an RBI and Lottie Adams, Reagan Busby, Kylie Floyd, Baylee Sanders, Mackenzie Garcias and Anna Hudson all singling.
Carly Autry took the loss for Canton on the mound, allowing 10 earned runs over five innings while striking out four.
Canton would build up leads of 3-0 and 4-3 in game two of the series before a late Lady Leopard surge resulted in a 7-4 series cliniching win for the Liberty-Eylau.
Lauren Reid got the starting nod for Canton, allowing seven hits and four earned runs over six innings.
Mackenzie Garcias led Canton's efforts offensively going 1/3 with a home run, 2 RBI and a run scored. Other leading hitters for Canton included Lottie Adams going 2/4 with a stolen base and a run scored, Haylee Miles going 1/3 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored, Kylie Floyd going 1/1 with two stolen bases, and Mattie Tullos going 1/2 with a run scored.
With the win, Liberty-Eylau advances to the Area round to take on District 15-4A champion Bullard. The Lady Panthers reached the Area round by dismissing Center with back-to-back shutout wins, 11-0 and 10-0.
