Leon Ballow 1935-2018
Funeral services for Leon Ballow, 82, Murchison, were held Saturday April 28, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Murchison with Rev. Daniel Stone officiating.
Burial followed at Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Mr. Ballow passed away Tuesday morning in Athens.
He was born in Van Zandt County to the late Wilford Dewey and Myrtle Alma Thurston Ballow. He had been a resident of Murchison for the past 46 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Murchison.
In his younger days, he loved to play softball and was an avid drag racer. He loved to go fishing or hunting but his passion was playing dominos with his friends. He was very talented and was able to fix most anything that was broken.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Ballow; granddaughter, Taylor Nix; and sister, Alma Ward.
Survivors include his sons, Danny Ballow, Athens, Troy Ballow, Murchison and Jeffrey Ballow, Murchison; daughters, Nicole Nix and husband, Tracy, Murchison, Kellie Ballow, Murchison, and Tammy Williams, Durant, Okla.; grandchildren, Tiffany Nix, Tyler Nix, Anthony Trujano, Dylan Ballow, Marlena Ballow, Kennedy Ballow, Klayton Ballow, D.J. Powell, Jason Powell, Brandie AAB, and Heather Powell; and great-grandson, Bentley Smith.
Pallbearers were Tyler Nix, Tracy Nix, Dylan Ballow, Anthony Trujano, Chris Smith, and Bobby Ward.
Honorary pallbearers were Walt Ottaberry, Shawn Ottaberry, and Kevin DeWalt.
