VZC Sheriff’s Office warns of scam
The VZC Sheriff’s Office issued a scam alert earlier this week. In the statement, the VZC Sheriff’s office warns of callers asking to pay a fine with the penalty of jail time if it is not paid. The alert states,
“Under no circumstances will anyone from this office (VZCSO) call and tell you that there is a warrant for your arrest and you must pay a fine and if you fail to do so you will go to jail.
The person(s) involved with this scam are answering the phone as Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office when you call the number back. Do not give out any information over the phone. If you have any questions in reference to a warrant or fine; or if you receive a call in reference to this, please call the VZC Sheriff’s Office 903-567-4133 and report the issue.”
