Fred McGregor 1926-2018
Services for Fred Thomas McGregor Sr., 92, of Frisco, formerly of Canton, were held Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Mike Roberson officiating. Graveside was held at Haven of Memories Memorial Park. He passed away on May 4, 2018, in Frisco.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1926, in Blytheville, Ark. to Eddie McGregor and Ophelia Kirby McGregor.
For over 30 years, he and Frances lived in Canton where they were members of First Baptist Church, including serving for a short while as a church trustee until his move to Frisco.
He served as a Combat Infantryman in World War II, being awarded a Purple Heart after service in the Battle of the Bulge as well as the Bronze Star.
Returning home after the war, he began a successful 40-plus year career in the soft drink industry. He was a member of a number of industry, civic and charitable organizations throughout his life, including being a Mason for over 50 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of over 67 years, Frances; their infant son, Christopher; sisters-in-law, Virginia Love and Jean James; brothers-in-law, Charles Smith and Jack Smith.
He is survived by his son, Fred Thomas McGregor, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn; step-grandsons, Edward Meenahan, Brad Meenahan and Troy Meenahan; step-great grandchildren, Michelle, Jacob, Sarah, Jennifer and Victoria; brother, Bruce McGregor; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Cobble, Dulcia Watson, Barbara Rozman and Freda Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to the Fisher House Foundation.
