Viola Douthit 1912-2018
Services for Viola Douthit, 105, of Canton were held Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Don Brown and Max Callahan officiating. Interment was in Cool Springs Cemetery.
She passed away May 10, 2018, in Canton. She was born June 29, 1912, in Quinlan.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton where she taught children's and senior adult Sunday School for many years.
She moved to Canton in the 1930s and married Sherdie Douthit in 1935. She is best known as the "cake and pie lady.”
She enjoyed traveling, her cats, and watching wrestling, especially the Von Erich family. She prayed a lot and laughed a lot.
She was able to live independently until she was 99 years old and moved to the nursing home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherdie; two daughters, Greta Graham and Melba Godfrey; and a grandson, Mark Godfrey.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Reynolds of Mesquite; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
