Cross country team opens season

The Canton Runing Eagles returned to work Aug. 25, traveling to Waxahachie to compete in their first event of the 2018 season. Canton runners turned in some good performances for the first meet of the year. 

The varsity boys team finished 5th overall out of 13 teams, led by Jonathan Bourquin 7th place individual finish with a time of 18:13. Bourquin was followed closely by Matthew Hook who placed 10th in 18:36. 

Rounding out the team were Wilson Null in 20:25, Trent McCarver in 20:30, Kevin Nixon in 21:06, and Gage Bullard in 21:19. There were 119 runners in the competition. 

Madeline Null finished 5th with a time of 13:42 and Darby Pruitt 11th in 14:15 for the varsity girls. Lexus Eudy won the JV girls division with a swift time of 13:07. Shelby Wycough ran 17:41 and Jade Spencer 18:13. 

The Running Eagles will compete at the Burleson Invitational on Friday.
