Services for R.T. Hopson, 85, of Canton were held Saturday Aug. 15, 2018 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.
He passed away on Aug. 13, 2018 peacefully at his home in Canton.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1932 in LaRue to Lee and Lois Gideon Hopson.
He proudly served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He loved talking to his kids, grandkids, and anyone that would listen about it.
He had many trades. He was an accountant for many years, a truck driver, ran Hopson General Merchandise in Tyler where he had his own meat market and did all the butchering himself.
His life revolved around his loving wife, kids, grandkids, and his very special great granddaughter. He attended every activity including sporting events, rodeos, and stock shows until he absolutely couldn’t. He was a member of the Dixie Baptist Church in Tyler and attended China Grove Baptist for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron Hopson; and sister, Mickey Leonard.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donnie Hopson; daughter, Tonja Bennett and husband, Justin; son, Milton Dwayne Hopson; grandchildren, Dustin Bennett, Brennan Bennett, Hunter Hopson, Jocie Bennett, Shelby Hopson, Harrison Hopson; great granddaughter, Weslynn Bennett; brother, Milton Hopson; and sister, Hazel.
Pallbearers were Dustin Bennett, Brennan Bennett, Hagen Bennett, Hunter Bennett, Zach Lunceford, and Carter Hale.
