Eagles host annual invitational meet
The Canton Running Eagles hosted their invitational on Sept. 15 with approximately 12 schools attending. Canton performed well overall, bringing home several top individual and team finishes at the event.
The varsity boys team finished third overall. Jonathan Bourquin led the way finishing eighth in a time of 18:00, followed by Matthew Hook in 11th with a time of 18:08, Garrett Stapleton in 14th with a time of 18:19, Wilson Null in 27th, Trent McCarver in 38th, Kevin Nixon in 49th, and Gage Bullard in 51st.
Grant Bass finished 11th in 20:53 for the JV boys, and Jax Wilkerson was 33rd.
In the varsity girls division Madeline Null finished third overall with a time of 13:17 and Darby Pruitt placed eighth in 13:41. Lexus Eudy once again captured the JV title finishing in 13:01, followed by Jade Spencer in 22nd, and Shelby Wycough in 25th.
In the junior high division, the boys finished third overall and were led by a 15th place finish from Logan Faglie. Rounding out the team were Clayton Sudduth in 17th, Miguel Arce in 18th, Johnny Fleming in 20th, Rocco Foley in 23rd, Sawyer Null in 31st, Landon Faglie in 34th, and Jayden Houchin in 35th.
In the JH girls division, Lana Stapleton finished fifth overall in 14:28 followed by Jaylan Mackinnon in 29th, Gracie Wilson in 48th, and Kyleigh Crayton in 71st.
The Running Eagles will run in the Hawkins Invitational on Saturday, September 22.
