Patra Austin 1944-2018

Patra Gail Ballow Austin, 74, of Plano, passed away Nov. 15, 2018, in Plano.  She was born July 3, 1944, in Canton to John W. and Lina Mae Tankersley Ballow.

She was a member of Mabank Church of Christ.  She grew up in East Texas and lived in Kaufman for 45 years. 

For many years, she worked at Cooley's Super Market and then at Nell's Restaurant in Kaufman.  She enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales and was an amazing cook. 

She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them. She was recently voted President of the Residence Council at Prestonwood Health and Rehab. 

She is preceded in death by her son, Dale Wayne Austin; her husband, Wayne Austin; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Danny and Melissa Austin of Murphy; daughter and her husband, Donna and Jerry Johnson of Pea Ridge, Ark.; five grandchildren: Elizabeth and T.J. Ross, Ben Johnson, Joshua Austin, Jakob Austin and Emilie Austin; one great-granddaughter, Riley Ross; three brothers, Randy, Bruce and Moody Ballow; and two sisters, Hilda Corley and Tina Horton.

Services were held Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the Mabank Church of Christ with Bob Patterson and Danny Austin officiating.  Interment was in Elm Grove Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Danny Austin, Jerry Johnson, Joshua Austin and Jakob Austin.
