​​​​​​​George Jackson Sr. 1942-2018

George Duane Jackson Sr., 76, of Ben Wheeler, passed away Nov. 19, 2018, in Tyler. He was born July 18, 1942, in Mississippi to D.O. and Wilma Mathis Jackson. 

He grew up in South Dallas. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years.  He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1997 after 33 years of service. He and his wife, Mary, moved to Ben Wheeler in 1991. He loved deer hunting, his farm, working in his yard and cooking.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, JoAnn Couch; brother, Buster Jackson; and stepson, Sidney Lee Drinning.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Jackson of Ben Wheeler; son, George "Jack" Jackson Jr. and wife, Shannon, of Garland; son, James Wood and wife, Patty, of Mesquite; son, Randy Wood and wife, Gitte, of Rowlett; daughter, Paula Maggio and husband, Peter, of Houston; stepson, Robert Daniel Drinning and wife, Kelly, of Ben Wheeler; stepson, Marvin Earl Drinning of Ben Wheeler; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Stallcup and husband, Roger, of Ben Wheeler.

Pallbearers were Jack Jackson, Shannon Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, James Wood, Randy Wood, Dean Drinning and Daniel Drinning.

Services were held Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jack Thompson officiating. 

Interment was in Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler.
