1955-2015

Funeral services for Mike Staton, 59, of Georgia, were held Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood.  Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.  Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

Mike passed away July 6, 2015, at his home in Conyers, Ga.

James Michael Staton was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Nashville, Ark., to Harold Glen Staton and Patsy Ann Huffman Staton.  He attended Edgewood High School and shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.  He completed 10 years of service and continued his military career as a recruiter for the United States Army. Mike lived in various places, including Germany, Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Texas and Georgia is where he settled until his last days. Mike was a member of Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood.

The most important thing to Mike was his family and friends, as well as, his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks WPS!  He will be forever missed by those that he touched.

Mike is survived by his children, Kristopher Staton and wife, Taneha, of El Paso; Tyler Staton of Huntsville, Ala. and Katie Staton of Conyers, Ga.; grandson, Chase Staton of Laguna Vista; parents, Harold and Pat Staton of Edgewood; sisters, Susan Bates and husband, Kenneth, of Myrtle Springs and Staci Dunn and husband, Robby, of Canton; brother, Hal Staton and wife Evelyn, of Tyler and many other relatives and friends.
