Services for Shawn Austin Phillips, 12, of Edgewood were held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

Austin passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, in Canton.

He was born Dec. 18, 2002, in Athens, to Victor Shawn and Kimberly Brown Phillips.

Interment was at Highland Cemetery in Edgewood.

Austin was a student at Edgewood Middle School and previously attended Fruitvale Elementary. He enjoyed history, playing basketball, baseball, and he was a passionate golfer. 

Austin was a happy, athletic, confident and very competitive young man. He also enjoyed working on tractors and cars.

He is survived by his father, Victor Shawn Phillips; mother, Kimberly Brown Phillips; s ister, Ashley Phillips; brother, Hayden Phillips; grandmother, Sharon Carver; grandparents, James and Judy Brown; aunt, Becky Brown; and uncles, Michael, Thomas and Stevie Brown.

Austin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hobby and Jonell Phillips; great-grandmother, Mary Foster; great-grandfather, Thomas Denton Foster; and cousin, Michael Allen Brown Jr.

Pallbearers were Shawn Phillips, Cody Beaty, Kevin Davis, Troy Yancey, John Yancey and Nic Yancey. Honorary pallbearers were Layton Bass, James Brown, Stevie Brown, Jake Brown, Rick Pierson, Michael Brown and Thomas Brown.
