CANTON HERALD, Sept. 8, 1949:
Bond Issues carry two to one in Newly Enlarged Canton School District. A $150,000.00 bond issue for construction of a new building to Canton was overwhelming by voters Tuesday.
C.L. Stanford, Canton attorney was appointed assistant county attorney last week by County Attorney Tom Prestridge and the County Commissioners Court approved it. Mr. Stanford is a brother of former county attorney Paul Stanford.
Tuttle Reunion family reunion was held at Myrtle Springs Park Sunday, Sept. 4. An old fashion dinner was served to the guest. (see more on microfilm) Those attending the Tidwell reunion at Myrtle Springs Sunday Sept.4 were Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Tidwell, S.S., J. A. and Durad Tidwell, (see more on microfilm).
The Foster family reunion was held Sunday Sept. 4 at Myrtle springs Park. (see more on microfilm)
Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Davis of Tyler are the parents of a six lb. seven oz. baby boy, named Samuel Rusk, born Sept. 6, Mrs. Davis is the former Tommie Jean Rusk.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Riley are the parents of a little daughter, Pat, born at Baker Clinic in Wills Pint, Sept 6. She weighed six pounds and fourteen ounces.
There will be singing at Watkins Sunday night. Sept. 11. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.
John Foster was carried to Terrell Hospital Saturday by Eubank Bros. ambulance.
