DKG begins new year

The ladies of Beta Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma were welcomed to the first meeting of the school year by President Betty Wilson.
New member Angel Shoquist, a third grade teacher in Van, was initiated into the chapter.
Grace Lamar gave legislative highlights and handed out schedule of events. Cindy Rakestraw, Patience McGuffey and Betty Wilson, the members that attended the State Convention in San Antonio, gave the Convention Report.
Twenty-one members were present in the Buchanan Room of the Van Zandt County Library. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month in the Buchanan Room.
The next meeting will be Oct. 13 and the program will be “Beta Omega and Van ISD Teaming Together.”
Guest speaker Van ISD superintendent Don Dunn will report on the progress after the tornado.
