Services for Thomas Gene Shivers, 84, of Ben Wheeler, were held Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton with Father Selvaraj Sinnappan officiating.

Mr. Shivers died Jan. 26, 2016, in Ben Wheeler.

He was born April 4, 1931, in Grand Saline to James Thomas and Dora Chambers Shivers.

Thomas was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He was married 65 years to his precious wife, Martha. They had 65 wonderful years together and called each other “Honey” all through the years. They worked together on the farm raising cows. He retired in 1986 from being a mail carrier in the city of Dallas. He enjoyed fishing, camping and Bob Wills Western Swing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, Clyde, Garland, J.T., Ruth and Tommie.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Shivers of Ben Wheeler; son, David and Kelly Shivers of Royse City; grandchildren, Hillary and Daniel Simpson, Kristin Shivers, Amy and Tyler Lawless; great-grandchildren, Campbell, Porter, and Finley and other friends and family.

Rosary was held Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
