The Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce held their first of four quarterly lunches scheduled for 2016 on Feb. 2 at The Bunker in the Van Zandt Country Club.
With a record 85 in attendance, Chairman Lace Deibert recognized local elected officials, chamber staff, and board of directors, ambassadors and special guests.
Deibert also recognized lunch sponsor American National Bank of Texas and thanked them for their investment in the chamber.
Deibert thanked everyone for attending and talked about the chamber's membership growth nearing the 300 mark. She also pointed out the increased interest in attendance at the quarterly lunches compared to the first lunch a little over a year ago with 40 members. She again thanked everyone for their participation.
Chamber board member Ken Martin blessed the meal followed by a terrific lunch prepared and served by The Bunker at the Van Zandt Country Club.
Lunch sponsor American National Bank of Texas provided a presentation on the value of serving a local community. ANBT Retail Project Manager Misty Phillips began her presentation saying "This is a program I am very passionate about, our Discovery Call program." "Our branch managers enjoy making Discovery calls to learn more about business in our communities." "We write your story and deliver it back to the business owner." Phillips then told the crowd “We want to hear your American story, successes and struggles that got you where you are today.” She then said "Since I'm asking you to share your history with us, I would like to share a piece of our history with you." "The short video you are about to see is the story of ANBTX Chairman of the Board Riter Hulsey, a great example of integrity and I am excited to share this with you." said Phillips. Hulsey began his career with ANBTX in 1947 and has enjoyed a 65 year career serving his community. Much like ANBTX itself Mr. Hulsey is committed to serving the local community.
