Colfax UMC hosting blood drive Saturday

Carter BloodCare reports that 75 percent of blood donors give once a year at the local community blood center.

The Center is now asking its volunteer donors to consider making at least one more donation. That would make a significant contribution to the available blood supply, BloodCare officials said.

According to information from the center, “without consistent donations coming in, there is no way to provide blood transfusions to hospital patients in the community because there is no substitute for human blood. More than 1,000 blood donors a day are required to keep up with regional hospital demands. Adding to the formula is the fact that the blood available must be of the right blood type and the correct blood product, at the right time.”

Colfax United Methodist Church in Canton is hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 13. The Carter BloodCare bus will be on the parking lot of the church, located at 3739 FM 16.
