Band begins with plans to continue success
The Mighty Canton Band is now back into full swing with summer camp taking place everyday until school starts.
The band is looking forward to another exciting year with their show entitled "Into the Light," which features classical music by Mozart, Debussy, Shostakovich and Copland, said Eagle Band Director Mike Bartley.
“The band hopes to continue with the success of their past by entertaining audiences at the football games, finishing at or near the top at marching contests, and making a trip to San Antonio in November for the UIL State Marching Contest,” Bartley said.
The Mighty Canton Band has enjoyed recent success by having one of its concert pieces from their spring musical program make it to the State level of the Outstanding Performance Series competition. The Band also had its entire spring musical program make it to the State level of TMEA Honor Band competition.
The band has experienced much success in both OPS and Honor Band through the years, even being selected the 2003 AAA (now AAAA) Honor Band for the state of Texas.
“The band staff, members, and parents look forward to seeing everyone at the games and contests throughout fall 2016,” Bartley said.
