Lauren Elizabeth Ivey-Holt

1993-2016

Funeral services for Lauren Elizabeth Ivey-Holt were held Oct. 19, 2016, at Eubank Chapel in Canton, with Brother Bryan Easley officiating.

Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

Lauren Elizabeth Ivey-Holt was born on Sept. 21, 1993, to Kenneth and Karen Seekings Ivey in Lancaster. She grew up in Canton with one brother, Kevin.

She was a gifted student in school, always giving 100% of all of her time and talent. She made the Dean’s Honor Roll in two universities and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

She was also a very kind, loving and talented daughter, sister, wife and granddaughter. She was never too busy to spend time with her family.

She had a soft spot for animals of all varieties, especially kittens she rescued, giving them the special care they needed to survive. There were no strangers in Lauren’s life, just friends she hadn’t met yet.

She had the sweetest smile that lit up any room and made people feel like they had known Lauren all of their lives.

On May 7th, 2016, she married the love of her life, Dakota Holt, in Wills Point. They were so very happy and so in love. Lauren worked in Tahlequah, Okla. as a legal assistant, a job she performed to perfection. The clients entrusted to her care were always treated like no one else mattered but them. Her spare time was spent with her husband and family, enjoying the day and relaxing at Lake Tenkiller.

A Christian by faith, Lauren attended Brookside Baptist Church in Myrtle Springs. It was at Brookside she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  For the many gifts she gave to others in her every day work, she left us all too soon on Oct. 13, 2016, in an accident. The world is a better place for Lauren’s presence here, and she has left a void in life that can never be filled.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Cecil Ivey; grandmother, Katherine Seekings; grandfather-in-law, Lyndon Holt; and great-grandparents-in-law Carl and Willie Lee Baumgardner.

She is survived by her husband, Dakota Holt of Cookson, Okla.; her father and mother, Kenneth and Karen Ivey of Kaufman; brother, Kevin Ivey of Denton; her father and mother-in-law, Tony and Brenda Holt of Wills Point; brother-in-law, Chance Holt of Wills Point, grandmother, Lorene “Mamaw” Ivey of Edgewood; and Ronald and the late Katherine Seekings of Canton; grandparents-in-law, Pat and Jimmie Coyle of Yantis; and Sandra Holt of Garland; and cousins, friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers were her brother, Kevin Ivey, Chance Holt, Randy Whitfield Jr., Danny Whitfield, Scott Siebert, Stephen Siebert, Eric Williams, Nathan Wilson, Chad McCuistion, Wesley Ringer, Leif Hurst, and Gary Tye.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles Adkins, Tom Dowdy, Larry Piazza, David Seekings and Jim Seekings.
