JH volleyball teams compete
Two long running rivals met on the court Oct. 10, as the Canton Eaglettes and Van Lady Vandals squared off.
The 8th grade Eaglettes continue their winning streak to improve to 8-0 in district play. The A team beat Van 25-22, 25-21. Madelyn Dunn was the top server and also contributed several key plays to keep Canton on top.
The 8th grade B team started out strong with five consecutive serves by Natali Sweat. Despite their efforts and great teamwork, the Eaglettes lost 16-25, 17-22.
In the 7th grade, the A team won the first game 25-16 and was led by Peyton Berhend who had eight consecutives serves. However, Canton had trouble with serve receive in next two games and lost 16-25, 15-25.
The 7th grade B team split games 25-14, 17-20. Rocky Collier was top server with eight serves in the first game.
The Eaglettes were scheduled to play their next district match against Emory Rains Oct. 17.
