Eaglettes drop matches to Rains, Brownsboro

The Canton Eaglettes hit a pair of roadblocks on their way through district play last week, falling short in matches to both the Emory Rains Lady Cats and Brownsboro Bearettes volleyball teams.

Canton opened the week at home, hosting an Emory Rains squad currently ranked fifth overall among all 4A teams in the state in the most recent Texas Girls Coaches Association Weekly Rankings.

The Lady Cats played one of their most efficient matches of the season, sweeping Canton in three sets. Rains set the tone early, jumping in front of the Eaglettes 25-13 in the first set.

Play continued to favor the visitors throughout the rest of the night, with Rains taking the second set 25-12 before closing play by winning the third set 25-9.

The Eaglettes traveled to Brownsboro Oct. 21, looking to get back on track with a win over a Bearette team they defeated in straight sets back on Oct. 4: 25-23, 25-21, 25-17.
